A rescue specialist with over 20 years’ of both private and public experience in the Search and Rescue (SAR) field, Shaun leads Pro Aviation’s training as the Underwater Egress Trainer. Originally from Ontario, Shaun started his Rescue career with the Canadian Forces, first as a paratrooper and then as a SAR Technician with the Royal Canadian Air Force.  This provided him with the opportunity to acquire skills in survival training in desert, arctic, wilderness, sea and mountain operations. As well as certifications as master diver (Padi), dive supervisor and rigging for rescue.


After retiring from the Canadian Forces Shaun continued his career in the rescue industry working for industrial rigging and outdoor adventure companies. His most recent position being a Rescue Specialist with Cougar Helicopters (St. John’s Newfoundland location) working with offshore oil industry clients in Canada and Greenland.  In this role he coordinated the development and oversight of the SAR medical training curriculum.


Relocating to BC in 2014, Shaun joined the Central Fraser Valley Search and Rescue team (Abbotsford) as a volunteer and has been a proud member serving the volunteer organizations ever since.  He is currently in the role of Ground Search and Rescue Team Leader as well as Team Training Officer and First Aid Chair. This has provided him with the opportunity to keep current with his SAR skills and to complete further training and certifications in Public Safety Lifeline Leadership, Ground Search, Organized Avalanche Response, and Swift Water Rescue with Rescue Canada.


And when not out in the field training or engaged in a search, you can find Shaun in the classroom (both indoors and outdoors) training pilots in all aspects of survival as a survival instructor for the British Columbia General Aviation Association and for Chinook Helicopters (Abbotsford BC).  Keep an eye out for Shaun the next time you attend a training session with Pro Aviation. 




Les is our Emergency Underwater Breathing Apparatus (EUBA) Instructor.  In this role he prepares students for the safe deployment and use of EUBA systems which they have available to use in the event of an in-water emergency.  


He is a Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) Course Director, the highest level instructor rating offered. In addition to teaching the full range of recreational PADI scuba courses, he is a PADI Instructor Trainer as well as an Emergency First Response Instructor Trainer.


Les has been Pro Aviation's EUBA Instructor since 2011.
